Luckily, my family and I were spared the worst of Hurricane Irma’s wrath. We lost some beautiful trees and had to endure 90-degree heat without electricity for days, but, in perspective, that is all minor. However, in talking to people this week and feeling the energy while in public, there is an emotional aftermath of Hurricane Irma and this could be the perfect time to build fearless faith.
With the storm approaching, it is hard to predict where landfall and the terrible “eye” of the storm will hit. We prepare our homes, we put up shutters and then when the storm starts, we lose electricity and sit by lantern light. For Hurricane Irma is was a long night of sitting in the dark because it was such a huge storm.
With the emotional aftermath of Hurricane Irma, I feel it is important to not let fear set into our consciousness or worse our subconscious mind. Now is the time to develop fearless faith in God, Infinite Intelligence. We may have fearless faith when life is going according to what we want and need. But, then the forces of nature come in: hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes or a health concern.
We must develop a fearless faith and surrender to a Higher Power, or we will be at the mercy of the forces of nature, which are beyond our control and remain unpredictable. We must get in touch with our Inner Self and that Inner Self will connect us to a Higher Power, Infinite Intelligence. Times like these are when we need to hold onto our faith.
If your mind is filled with fear, try concentrating on courage, so, the fear does not become rooted into your mind. If you find that impossible, divert your attention by prayer, writing affirmations, or saying a mantra. If that is not working, read something amusing, watch a comedy, or get active and do something that is fun.
Then when the fear has subsided, spend time in meditation or prayer to get in touch with your Inner Self and God. Use this time to build up fearless faith, flex those muscles and stay in control of your thoughts.
